The In Her Space community welcomes The Afrocentric Social Worker Podcast hosted by Manicka Thomas LISW. Manicka discusses the topic of mental health awareness and the impact that it can have in making changes in our communities. Manicka Thomas is the CEO of Thomas Community Consulting LLC, a Continuing Education and Professional Development company that offers workshops and training to address issues impacting the African American community from a culturally relevant perspective.
With over 10 years of experience, her work with youth and families spans from working with head start children and parents to supporting rising high school Seniors in completing college level coursework for graduation. She is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Social Work Program at Sinclair Community College. Her primary interests as an educator are Cultural Competence, Afrocentricity as a Model for Social Change, and African American youth development and behavior.
She graduated in 2005 from Freed-Hardeman University (Tennessee) with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She continued her education at The Ohio State University, receiving a Master’s degree in Social Work with a specialization in School Social Work in 2006. Manicka is also a Licensed Social Worker for the State of Ohio.

Irene Wade interviews, Janel Lanae founder of "Head to Toe Beauty & Co.: Beauty Redefined". Head to Toe Beauty & Co. defines beauty as a light that shines from within a person from entities such as their character and evolution, while still recognizing the importance of it reflecting onto their exterior image through self-care. Janel is on a mission to impact the lives of women and to support organizations that do the same. She is hosting an Event Breathtakingly Black an exposition of the Black Queen. Hosted by the lovely JiGi Deniro, this breathtaking event features 3 full runway sets, LIVE performing artists, professional dancers, LIVE music, giveaways, and more. 
Proceeds will benefit the amazing "Ebony Pearls" ; a nonprofit organization based in Dayton, Ohio that focuses on striving to create environments conducive to the education and growth of young girls in the community. 17.Give Because He Gave With Ashley Browning-So Loved Night of Giving

Ashley N. Browning is a graduate of Kentucky State University, where she received a BA in Criminal Justice and a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where she received her Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling. Recently, she received her certification in Chemical Dependency from Union College.
In 2013, Ashley moved back to Dayton, Ohio and started, SoLoved, a project based organization that is committed to assisting different populations in the local community through outreach and monthly initiatives. The focal scripture of the organization is John 3:16. Which states that God SOLOVED the world that HE gave…; which encourages us to give. Through Ashley’s leadership and execution of various community focused events and initiatives, SoLoved has been able to meet the needs in the community, not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually.
Ashley’s most recent endeavor of starting her own business, Browning Enterprises, LLC, where she will continue to serve her community as a non-for-profit and small business consultant and independent contractor. Ashley is inspired to continue the legacy of her grandfather, Harry C. Browning.
